Canuto de la Utrera is one of the most beautiful and lesser-known natural areas near Casares and the western Costa del Sol. Located within the Sierra Crestellina natural surroundings, this dramatic limestone canyon was formed over millions of years and today offers spectacular scenery filled with steep cliffs, caves, unique rock formations and Mediterranean vegetation.
The area is particularly well known among hikers and rock climbers thanks to its peaceful atmosphere and impressive vertical walls. Several walking trails pass through the canyon and surrounding hills, making it an excellent destination for outdoor activities, photography and birdwatching. With a bit of luck, visitors may even spot griffon vultures soaring above the cliffs, as the nearby Sierra Crestellina is home to one of the largest vulture colonies in the region.
Bring plenty of water as it can become hot!
